PADI Open Water Diver Course
About the Course
The PADI Open Water Diver Course is the world’s most popular scuba diving certification course. It teaches you the basic knowledge and skills needed to dive safely. Upon completion, you’ll be certified to dive independently with a buddy to a maximum depth of 18 meters (60 feet).
Prerequisites
- Minimum Age: 10 years old for Junior
Open Water Diver; 15 years old for full
certification. - Swimming Skills: Must be able to swim 200 meters/yards (or 300 meters/ yards with mask, fins, and snorkel) and tread water for 10 minutes.
- PADI Medical Form: Participants must complete a medical statement. If you
answer “Yes” to any question, a physician’s clearance is required. - Liability Release: A signed PADI Liability Release Form is necessary to acknowledge the risks of diving

Course Structure
Complete the theory portion via PADI eLearning or in-person sessions covering dive safety, equipment, and basic diving principles.
Practice essential skills in a controlled environment, such as mask clearing and regulator recovery.
Perform four dives in open water to apply your skills under the supervision of a PADI Instructor
Typically takes 3-4 days. Completing the theory portion via PADI eLearning allows for faster progression in the practical segments
